Argentina prepares 3rd renewables tender round

Argentina wants German Wind Energy companies to invest in South America. Representatives of the Argentinian government stated this at a workshop on export opportunities to the South American Countries. The event was hosted by the Renewable Energy Clusters of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein (Germany’s northernmost Bundesland) and the Argentinian General Consulate during Wind Energy Hamburg fair.

Argentina is currently preparing for the third tender round of an installed capacity of 400 Megawatts (MW). Undersecretaries Sebastian Kind and Sergio Drucaroff informed about the renewables fostering programme of the Argentinian government, RenovAr, and its guarantee fund FODER. FODER was rated stable by the World Bank, as Kind pointed out.

Representatives of companies that are already doing business in Argentina were invited to a panel discussion, among them the turbine manufacturers Nordex Acciona, Senvion and Vestas, the project planning company PNE and the engineering company DNV GL. They emphasized the well-trained personell available in Argentina, but showed disappointment about the third tender round being postponed to next year.

The Argentinian wind branch association, the Argentina Investment and Trade Promotion Agency and the Argentinian component suppliers and service companies FAdeA, GRI Calvino Torres, NEWSAN and YPF presented their businesses as ready for international cooperation. The event ended with fruitful business-to-business-talks at the WindEnergy Hamburg fair.
